Busted But Not Responsible? Tips For Your Defense

If you've been arrested for a crime you didn't commit, you need to defend your legal rights. You have the right to an attorney who can help you present your case. After being wrongly accused of something myself, I learned quickly how to navigate the legal avenues to have my case dismissed. My attorney was a great resource for building the case, and because of my understanding of the law, it worked. I created this site to share what I learned along the way and some other great tips for others who have been wrongly accused and arrested for a crime.

Did You Slip And Fall In Or On Your Way Into A Store This Black Friday? When The Store May Be Accountable

Law Blog

Slip and fall accidents can leave you injured. And on Black Friday, there slip and fall accidents are very common. In some cases, the slip or fall was your own fault. You tripped over your own two feet or didn't heed wet floor warning signs. But in other cases, the accident was the stores fault. If the store has any fault in your slip and fall accident, you may be able to bring a personal injury case against them and recover money for your medical expenses, pain and suffering and the money you missed out on if you couldn't work. Here are a few scenarios in which a store may be accountable for your slip and fall accident on Black Friday.

The Lighting Was Poor

When you head out to shop on Black Friday, you may be headed out in the middle of the night. While it may be pitch black outside, retail stores have a duty to ensure there is adequate lighting in their parking lot, on the walkways into the stores and inside of the stores if they are open for business, regardless of what time of day it is. If you have slipped or tripped and fallen because of inadequate lighting, you may have a viable personal injury claim.

You Were Pushed or Shoved

Black Friday shoppers can get crazy. But it is a store's responsibility to ensure that things don't get out of hand. They have to monitor crowds and perform crowd control measures. If you slipped because someone shoved or pushed you during the stampede inside of the store, you may be able to prove the store was negligent in your personal injury case.

You Tripped In a Cluttered Aisle

During Black Friday, many stores place their door busters in the center of their aisles. This makes the aisles more cluttered. If you have tripped and fallen because you couldn't walk safely through the aisles, you may be able to win your personal injury case.

There Was an Uncleaned Spill

Employees are often busy checking customers out and performing crowd control on Black Friday. As such, spills may not get cleaned up. But the stores are still responsible for maintaining a safe environment for shoppers, and that includes cleaning up spills or slippery substances. If you slipped and fell on something that should have been cleaned up, you may be able to file a personal injury case.

If you are unsure whether you have a compensable personal injury case for a slip and fall accident, schedule a consultation with a personal injury lawyer. Consultations are typically free of charge and the attorney can then help you determine whether a store may be accountable for your injuries. If they feel you do have a case, hiring an attorney can be beneficial. They can help you by filing the case before the statute of limitations arises, obtaining evidence and settling your case for what it is. Contact a firm, like Velde Moore Limited, for more help.
